This surgery does not require hospital admission. Instead, it is performed on an outpatient basis and takes a short period of time
We use the "Bettocchi" hysteroscope at the MIA polyclinic, an instrument specially designed for outpatient use. The instrument is usually inserted through the birth canal without placing a mirror (the same instrument used to take a Pap smear or cervical smear) and without dilating the cervix.
The procedure is usually performed without anaesthesia or with the use of local anaesthesia.
The main advantage for the patient is that the procedure is carried out without the use of anaesthesia so that all associated complications are avoided. The operation is not painful because extremely thin instruments are used, and uterine expansion is minimal.
A great advantage is that the operation does not require a hospital stay but is performed on an outpatient basis and takes a short time, usually 15-30 minutes.
