New embryological tests for sperm abnormalities
The new embryological tests for sperm abnormalities - with DNA fragmentation - are a kind of male fertility test that measures the amount of damaged DNA in a sperm sample. Essentially, all men have damaged sperm DNA, and milder disruptions in the sperm genome are sometimes corrected by the egg cell (or embryo) after fertilization. This is not possible with significant sperm DNA defects, and fertilization will be missed, implantation will be impaired, or early subclinical miscarriage will occur.
The described diagnostic approach has been successfully applied in the laboratory of the MIA Polyclinic. It allows for significantly improved IVF and a focus on more successful treatment supplementation.
