Spermiogram

Spermiogram

Spermiogram

Spermiogramme is a microscopic testing of sperm. We monitor the number, mobility, shape and total percentage of live sperm alongside with the colour, viscosity, rate of liquification and pH of ejaculate liquid. Ejaculate is taken after 2 to 3 days of sexual abstention. It is best to produce the sample directly at our clinic, because it could get damaged during transportation and variables that deviate from normal could not actually mean issues with fertility. However, you can bring a ready sample with you to the clinic, if you transport it in a sterile container at body temperature and hand it over to the laboratory within 60 minutes of collection.

The number and state of sperm varies naturally, so it is best to take 2 to 3 examination with at least a week between them, because sperm is produced constantly and its production is influenced by environmental factors.

Results are available within a week.

Why Take Spermiogramme?

The number and quality of sperm decreases with age, and an examination will help you determine your chances of conceiving. If you have been trying to conceive for a year without success, spermiogramme determines whether you have problems with fertility.

Abnormal results suggest infertility, but this can be treated. Examples of treatable infertility include diabetes, hormonal imbalance or infection. In case of abnormal results, we recommend additional examinations, for instance from urine samples or hormonal tests, which determine the cause of infertility and possible solutions.

If you undertook vasectomy, spermiogramme shows whether it was successful.
